Running has a way of setting my life in motion. Both literally and metaphorically. It regulates so many things like mood, sleep, appetite, human-ness (yes, sometimes I need to run before I can function in the real world)*sighs*…I could tbh go on for days about about why I love the sport so much. But here are my top 10 reasons why: 🙂
1- I can go at my own pace.
…and nobody can say anything about it. I am a TURTLE who can occasionally pick up the pace but prefer to keep it at a comfortable 12 minutes and 45 seconds per mile (most days).
2- I can plan my day.
You know that feeling of waking up and realizing you have so much to do you don’t even know where to start? Running solves that. I’ve planned everything from running errands to studying to prepping for interviews to even making plans with friends while letting my legs fly.
3- I can do my homework.
…screenwriting homework that is. I once wrote an entire pitch while running 5 miles on the treadmill. There’s just somethin’ ’bout good tunes and endorphins that help get the creative juices flowing.
4- I can meditate.
De-stress. Deep breaths. Clear my mind. Focus on the now. Which leads me too…
5- Appreciating nature.
Something I used to not do, but running outside, away from my problems and the tough confinement of school is liberating. It allows me to appreciate the little things in life like blooming flowers, the sunset/rise and funny animals like snapping turtles, hummingbirds, and squirrels.
6- Catch up on the news.
The bulk of my 2016 presidential election knowledge came from watching CNN while training for my half marathon at the gym.
7- Pass out like a baby.
Like every single night. I haven’t gotten so much beauty sleep since high school.
8- Strong legs.
So happy that my once to be thought eternal chicken legs have gotten some shape!
9- I can eat anything in my path.
Seriously. I have not had such a voracious appetite in all my life. I eat 5-6 meals a day every 2-3 hours. Talk about being ALWAYS. HUNGRY.
10- Clear skin.
I haven’t had a breakout in who knows how long. *knocks on wood* Well, unless I do a half ass job of taking off my sunscreen before I go to bed, but that rarely happens and when it does, its not too bad.
So there you have it. A short little blip of my top 10 reasons of why I LOVE running! ❤ What are yours? 🙂
